MIKA – THE CELESTIAL ODYSSEY

Dates: October 7th to mid-November (6 weeks)

Venue: Lechbinska Gallery Zurich

MIKA is a captivating exploration at the crossroads of art, science, and technology. It is an immersive experience that examines the perception of colour in space, the role of artificial intelligence (AI), and the mysteries of our Universe. At the heart of this project is the newly identified shade of pink, GJ 504b, inspired by a Jovian giant pink gas exoplanet located 57 light years away.

Every art piece is sculpted through cutting-edge AI tools, harnessing the power of generative artificial intelligence and demonstrating machine intelligence's profound potential, aesthetics and limits.

In this melding of realms, where the finite nature of AI meets the boundless expanse of the Universe, attendees are prompted to reflect on the perception of colour in space, accentuated by the immersion of Virtual Reality.

Visitors will be guided through the exhibition by the presence of an artificial astrophysicist. MIKA invites visitors into her living room and offers a VR-enhanced journey, enabling a closer connection to the pink planet GJ 504b and its mysteries.

This exhibition is the collective creation of Nici Jost, a conceptual artist and photographer, and Nadine Friedel, a specialist in emerging technology. Ben Moore, a distinguished astrophysics professor from the University of Zurich and book author, provides the scientific foundation.

MIKA encapsulates the shared curiosity of Jost and Friedel, representing their collective quest to unravel the mysteries of pink in space.
